Hey Celebration Church,
As we continue our journey through Lent, I wanted to share a few updates with you.
Intern Angela
February marks the official beginning of her 18-month internship. While she has been with us for over a year now, this period of time will serve as her official internship. The most notable changes are:
If you would like a visit from Intern Angela, please contact her at Angela@click2celebrate.com
Late last year, we applied for the Gulf Coast Synod Innovative Internship Grant. This grant was made possible through the generosity of congregation members like you. I am happy to report we received a generous $7,000 grant which will cover the additional hours of Angela’s official internship. I am grateful to the Synod for supporting congregations like Celebration.
Murdoch’s Update
Murdoch’s has a contract with the county on the property that is under due diligence of the buyer. They have until April 12 to fully commit. Murdoch’s is unsure what their intentions are with the building or time line.
What does this mean for us? In the meantime, nothing. We will continue to worship every Sunday at 9:30. If and when a deal is done, we will share a more accurate and detailed timeline of what to expect. The backup plan continues to be moving over to Rosehill Beer Garden, but we are continuing to assess all options until the Coffee Church is up and running.
Coffee Church & Mission Grant
Speaking of the Coffee Church, earlier this year we received a very generous $25,000 legacy gift toward our dream of opening a coffee church. This gift has empowered us to initiate the search for a qualified general manager for the coffee shop. Our intention is to have the General Manager join us in the process of refining the business plan and securing necessary funding.
The plan is to bring them in early to help finalize the business plan and secure funding. Initially, this position will operate on a very part-time basis, with the contingency for transitioning to full-time once the required funding is secured."
In 2024, our annual mission grant through the synod received a substantial boost, increasing from $10,000 to $25,000. This remarkable growth is predominantly attributed to the ambitious objectives embraced by the Coffee Church's mission: the provision of meaningful employment opportunities for adults facing challenges in securing traditional employment, particularly individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
God’s Peace,
Pastor Ryan
